Dr. Ali Sadeghi was a leader and true inspiration to everyone he met, and he was a blessing and tremendous gift to many individuals and families he helped along his way. He left us much too soon and is dearly missed by all who knew him. We owe a great debt to Dr. Sadeghi for the legacy he left behind.
Dr. Sadeghi grew up in the town of Shahreza, Iran. When he turned 18, his family sent him to Ann Arbor, Michigan to study. As a young adult, Dr. Sadeghi arrived in the United States on his own, with no more than his suitcases and a few dollar bills tied around his belt.
In 1987 Dr. Sadeghi came to California to visit his extended family. It was during this visit that he met Dr. Leili Zarbakhsh. The two married in 1988 and decided to stay in Southern California. In 1990 Dr. Sadeghi took on his first 10 clients to provide them with much needed behavioral therapy services. This was the beginning of California Psychcare (CPC).
Dr. Sadeghi went on to found other agencies including Behavior Respite in Action (BRIA), Autism Response Team (ART), and Respite Works (RW). At the time of his passing, he and Dr. Zarbakhsh were operating over 30 offices throughout California and beyond.
Aside from his professional achievements, Dr. Sadeghi will most be remembered for his approachable and down-to-earth personality, for his wisdom, for his spot-on analogies and metaphors, for his reassuring calmness even under trying circumstances, and for his humor. This world is a better place as a result of his having been here.
